Tim Rosemond
Hi I’m Tim, I live at Coomera on the Gold Coast. I’m 19 and I have been working at a childcare centre for a year now. Working with children always brings a smile to my face. I have always wanted to go to Africa to help out at an orphanage, but have never previously had the chance. My father has decided to help me achieve this. I am so excited that I am going to be able to experience something such as this. I can’t wait to learn new things and hope to maybe teach them some things along the way. All in all this will be a fantastic adventure.
Bentley O’Kane-Chase
Hey guys my name is Bentley and I also live at Coomera on the Gold Coast. I finished School last year and have since been studying a double degree at Griffith University (Bachelor of Multimedia & Bachelor of Information Technology – I made this website :p). I have never travelled overseas in my life and decided to take on this experience as I feel it will help to shape my character. I don’t want to become yet another boring office worker! I grew up in the country and want to do my absolute best to help out at the orphanage.
Clay O’Brien
A’ hoy hoy there as you may know my name is Clay Patrick O’Brien.
I’m 18 and graduated last year alongside Bentley and one year behind Tim.
Not knowing what to do now I quickly fell back on my passion of cars. Bored with unemployment and getting my car sales license I volunteered within 24 hours of finding out about this opportunity. I love an adventure. I hope to help the orphans alongside my friends and prove that if I can help so can anyone.
Branka Sikiric
Hey all you beautiful people out there! I just want to share with you how my Kenya experience came about.
For the longest time I’ve wanted to get out there and be involved in some worth while selfless work. Life is so much bigger than being a drone for some employer!! I wasn’t sure which organisation to choose, but I knew for certain it wasn’t going to be a mainstream big named charity as I was disappointed to learn that up to 80% ends up in admin fees and not a whole lot of benefiting the children.
I decided to pray and ask God to guide me and give me a clear answer. Typically impatient I couldn’t wait so I had to have some lessons in patience; I had to wait on his time, as he knows best.
Just over a year ago I was visiting my best friend and she introduced me to a lady who happened to be sharing about her sponsored children at Ian Castlemans Orphanage in Kenya. I was inspired to sponsor some children finally and got quite excited when I realised I’d finally got my answer to pray. It was so amazing; God impressed the answer on me, he spoke to my mind and simply said, “this is the one”.
Those of you who have experienced answer to pray can understand how exciting this is
When I was asked if I would be interested in going to Kenya as a volunteer I said yes in a heartbeat. I think it surprised her because I didn’t take a second to think as I already got my answer and knew I was there…
I shared my idea of going to Kenya with my friend and he said he’d tell his son Tim as he thought it might be right down his alley as he works with children. Well I was so surprised and excited to find out that Tim was interested and then he encouraged two of his mates to come along as well!!
I’m so glad I shared my desire as it ignited the beginning of this amazing little group of amazing young men – Can you imagine three 19-ish year olds giving up their creature comforts to embark on a life changing experience to help the less fortunate?
What really got me convinced is a verse in Isiah that says… True religion is helping the orphaned and poor…
This is our commission – it’s so humbling to be involved and I’m positive we’ll come back changed with a different appreciation of life.
Trevor Rosemond
Trevor is Tim’s dad and will be joining us on this adventure after we get to the orphanage… (He will also write his introduction soon).
