Our team, four ordinary people from the Gold Coast have volunteered to travel to Ian Castleman’s orphanage in Kenya for 2 and a half months. This website will feature our adventure during our stay at the orphanage and provide a way for us to share our experience with loved ones. Our main goal for this website, however, is very separate from this.

We aim to increase awareness of the situation in 3rd world countries. Not everyone is so lucky to grow up in Australia. We are so privileged to have the things we class as the basic “essentials”. Electricity, clean drinking water, food and shelter. But even more than this. Family. Ian Castleman provides all of these things for 125+ orphaned children.

I came here just to start a small orphanage to keep me busy until I die and it has exploded into something I never ever dreamed of, I am overwhelmed that people from all round the world are so interested in something that I began, I am sooo excited at this and I just thank you from the depths of my heart that you have taken such an interest in this home.

Ian’s primary goal is for each child at the orphanage to be sponsored. It costs around $10,000 a month to run the orphanage and at the moment Ian is only able to raise $7,500 per month and this is quickly depleting funds. There are over 100 children that still need sponsorship. Ian’s orphanage is separate from almost every other orphanage of it’s kind in that there is no administration and therefore no administration fees. You can be ensured that your donations will go directly to the children.
