Although we loved the kids at the Ian Castleman Orphanage Kenya (Deal Thy Bread) we actually had many disagreements with the director. Because of this we recommend that donations can also go to the Mission In Action orphanage

Soory to hear that Bentley. but I can also assure you ALL money donated to ICOK/DTBM goes to the children as well. Dad’s personal money has also all gone to the children. While you may have had disagreements with Dad the above comment makes it appear that money does not go to the children. This is completely false.
I do wish you all the best and hope MIA appreciate your assistance.

Sorry it came across that way Paula. At the time I wrote this post I was very tired. I simply meant to imply at MIA is a trustworthy orphanage, not that at Ian’s orphanage the money won’t go to the kids.
I was a bit wary about writing this post as I didn’t want to start too many arguments or explain in detail all of the issues we had (as doing this publicly probably wouldn’t be right). Although we had numerous problems with Ian we all respect that he has put his best efforts into starting this orphanage and the kids are better off than on the streets.

Thanks for your reply Bentley and I appreciate that you posted my comment and responded to it. Working in Kenya is a difficult thing and I would like to thank you and the other boys for the jobs you did while you were there.
I also understand you not wanting to start arguments and you are right they certainly do not help anyone.
Dad is very firm in his beliefs and I know that sometimes comes accross wrong. He is trying to do his best for the children and is trying to follow the principles he believes in. FOr all those who give up their own lives to live in a third world country, life becomes very difficult.
Dad certainly appreciated all the help you guys gave. He has even wrote a section about it in his current newsletter which I have to edit and get out soon.
I do sincerely wish you and the others all the best. I am sure Africa was a life changing experience. I also wish MIA all the best too as like Dad they have given up their first world comforts to help desperate children.
All the best Bentley.
